Exercise

Indoor Volleyball

Indoor VolleyballKids don't need a gymnasium to get exercise on a cold winter's day. This version of volleyball can be played indoors without risk to lamp or limb.

1. To play, first tie a piece of yarn or string across a 10-foot playing area, about 1 foot above the floor. Divide the players into 2 teams and have them set up crab style (faceup, leaning on their hands and feet) in their stocking feet on each side of the string.

Spin in a circle

Sure, you'll get dizzy. That's the point - and it's free.

Run a marathon

kids runningBut not all at once. Set a goal with your kids to run a full 26.2 miles over the course of a year, and pioneered by the non-profit group Marathon Kids. To help your little Flo Jo finish, track her progress from zero to marathoner on a chart. Before the last leg, fashion a finish line in the driveway. This is a great way to teach your kids the importance of health and exercise.
